Shoshi (Refat) Chowdhury

Ms. Chowdhury joined Dignity in Schools Campaign- New York as a Coordinator in March 2011. She has been involved in community organizing since the age of 15, as a youth leader. During her time as a youth organizer in DRUM (Desis Rising Up & Moving), she conducted street and school outreach to increase the organization’s membership base of South Asian youth.  She also co-created skills-based workshops, worked on leadership development, and ran campaigns. She was involved in campaigns and coalition work which successfully created policy changes in the New York City Department of Education to promote transparency on school discipline issues. Shoshi graduated from City University of New York at Queens College with honors, Magna Cum Laude.
