HOUSING PROGRAM INTERNSHIP
NESRI's Human Right to Housing Program grew out of the Special Project on the Human Rights of Hurricane Survivors and works with community-based organizations to support their social justice campaigns through the use of human rights.  NESRI supports partners with training, analysis, research and documentation, human rights messaging, and coalition building.  As communities continue to face massive demolitions, predatory redevelopment, and policies that directly attack their quality of life, NESRI will work with communities in the fight for their human right to housing and participatory development.

Some research topics may include human rights approach to city planning, international examples of participatory development, and economic analysis regarding the destruction of public housing. The work will be supervised by NESRI's Housing Program Director.

Qualifications: NESRI is seeking candidates with a demonstrated commitment to social justice and human rights, strong research and writing skills, and the initiative to take on new, creative and innovative projects. A background in urban planning is a plus.

Terms: Interns participate in the full activities of the staff of NESRI during the course of the internship. The internship is unpaid. NESRI values a diverse workplace and encourages students with non-traditional experiences and from historically underrepresented groups to apply.
