The Human Right to Housing Program provides public education materials and training workshops for social justice organizations interested in using human rights as a tool to advocate for the right to housing and to ensure the right to participation of residents in the planning and decision-making affecting their communities.

Basic info on human rights and housing:

NESRI conducts trainings for our community partners and develops fact sheets, information briefs and human rights analysis on the human right to housing.  NESRI publications, with respect to the right to housing, include:    

• Fact Sheet on the Human Right to Housing
• Fact Sheet on Economic and Social Rights in the U.S.

Using international mechanisms:

NESRI conducts training and develops written materials on the use of human rights mechanisms, such as UN treaty bodies, working groups, commissions and special rapporteurs, as well as shadow reporting and international solidarity coalitions.  Examples of international mechanisms include:
