Joan Rashid

Director of Development

With over 20 years of experience serving non-profit organizations in New York and California, Joan Rashid is NESRI’s new Director of Development. She works closely with local and national foundations to strengthen NESRI’s capacity to support its allies in their efforts to achieve impactful campaigns that focus on racial justice, economic equity, education and affordable healthcare.

Before joining NESRI, she held a position as Senior Director of Development at Project Morry where she led and managed a development team that quadrupled grant income, and grew revenue for their annual gala to nearly $1million. Previously, she held a position as Director of Development at Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem.

Joan is a recent graduate of Queens University of Charlotte where she received a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing. When Joan is not fund-raising for NESRI, she is creating literature that focuses on social, racial and gender issues that have impacted people of color historically, and given the current landscape are still relevant today.
