Last week Raquel Rolnik, UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing, released her report on her visit to the United States. The visit was coordinated by NESRI and local partners around the country. This report will be presented before the United Nations Human Rights Council on March 5th.

The Healthcare is a Human Right campaign in Vermont, led by NESRI partner the Vermont Workers’ Center, has prompted the Vermont legislature to conduct a series of hearings on rights-based health care reform. After submitting thousands of petitions and bringing hundreds of Vermonters to a public health care forum at the statehouse, the Workers’ Center has now presented its own legislative proposal to a joint session of the health committees.

NESRI partner United Workers’ Justice Theater Conference brought together social and economic justice organizers and human rights activists, with theater, art, storytellers, and puppet makers. Together they shared skills, culture, struggles and a vision for a world free from poverty.  Participants explored the intersection of theater and struggles for dignity and justice through Theater of the Oppressed, the Battle of Stories Framework, street theater and puppet making.
